In 1970, while I was at Purdue in Professor Stefanile’s creative writing class, I co-wrote a poem with another student in that class about someone who was rebelling, “drifting away” and “falling into trouble”. His friends and the people who knew him could “see him falling” but didn’t do anything about it. Years later, I used portions of that poem to write this song to inspire us to have the courage to do what is necessary to catch someone from “falling”, “drifting away”, getting into trouble . . . instead of just watching them fall.
